AGAGO COUNTY LEGISLATOR HON LAGEN DAVID ATUKA ACKNOWLEDGES WOMENS DAY CELEBRATION WHILE ON RADIO JAMAICA

As Agago is set to celebrate Women's day tomorrow, Hon Atuka while on Radio Jamaica acknowledged that  It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
Since those early years, Women’s Day has assumed a new national dimension for women in developing countries like Uganda. The legislator called upon the world to comprehend in helping make the commemoration of rallying points to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas across the world

He says Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

The Member of parliament representing Agago County says, the world has made unprecedented advances, but no country has achieved gender equality. Him being on Parliamentary Human Rights Committee , cases of Gender equality is still rampant and calls for collective responsibility to fight against the vice.

He says according to Research made by the Committee, Globally, legal restrictions have kept 2.7 billion women from accessing the same choice of jobs as men and less than 25 percent of parliamentarians were women, as of 2021. The legislator tasked experts from within the district, local leaders and social development to weigh Agago's journey on lasting sustainable development. A number of reports highlights crucial components that empowered sustainable development and partnerships within the district.   My focus from a way back as been on improving livelihoods, progressing the Health system ,Education and most importantly Agricultural production. Our district is yet to achieve unlimited progress if we the leaders and the community collectively work together.
