DID YOU KNOW ?HON LAGEN DAVID ADVOCATED FOR RE-ORGANIZATION OF THE ANTI-STOCK THEFT UNIT (ASTU) WHICH IS NOW EFFECTING THE FIGHT AGAINST CATTLE RAID INSURGENCY IN NORTHERN REGIONS OF UGANDA AND PARTICULARY AGAGO

The re-organization of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) and the introduction of the Kraal protection local personnel are among the strategies that were presented by Hon Lagen David Atuka to tackle cattle rustling in Agago District and Northern region as a whole.

Following concerns of cattle rustling in Northern Uganda, especially in Agago district, the Government has since responded to several measures to address the challenges in the offing to stop incursions that have led to the loss of cattle by communities of the district.

Making a presentation last year 2023,  before the current CDF Muhoozi Keinerugaba, the first son noted that because of the para-military operational nature of the cattle rustlers, it has been difficult to curb cattle rustling but as a government they adopted up  strategies that were suggested by leaders which is evidenced working to its effect.

He cited  that they will work with the Internal Security Organization (ISO) to recruit low cadre ISO staff from the villages who will help when it comes to early warning which is already on ground and perhaps well operated security is being administered to the communities.

He said another measure will be the setting up of Kraal protection local personnel as the bigger efforts are being prepared by Government. This accredits Honorable for Agago county for the tireless efforts in fighting to put an end of the insurgency in Agago and Northern region as a whole.

Hon Lagen noted that intelligence organization's have been since then  tasked to identify hotspots for deployment especially for cattle rustlers coming into Agago district from Karamoja region and perhaps the local people are now getting relieved from the atrocities.

The other strategy was “Identifying some local personnel along the models of the Local Defense Units (LDUs) to man  areas as the bigger efforts still being mobilized to date. we tabled all this  ideas  firmed  to come up with a quick and fast solution,” Lagen said.

Much Applaud Hon Lagen David Atuka.

HON LAGEN DAVID ATUKA WISHES ACHOLI COMMUNITY AND UGANDA AT LARGE HAPPY LABOUR DAY

On this day as we celebrate Labour Day, , my spotlight is on Agago district progress and the challenges encountered on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hon Lagen David cited that he committed to SDGs in 2010 before attaining a political position, setting a roadmap for developing the district until 2040. The legislator tasked experts from within the district, local leaders and social development to weigh Agago's journey on lasting sustainable development. A number of reports highlights crucial components that empowered sustainable development and partnerships within the district.   My focus from a way back as been on improving livelihoods, progressing the Health system ,Education and most importantly Agricultural production. Our district is yet to achieve unlimited progress if we the leaders and the community collectively work together. Political fights and uncalled for hatred shall always decline on the rapid progress of Agago, he cited. LAWANG LUTEDERO. ...
