Hon Lagen David says He still advocates for Government-led disarmament campaign in Karamoja, resentment dialogues and more compensation of the victimized families while in a crucial interview

Within many pastoral societies and livelihood systems, cattle raiding has served as a long-standing practice Especially in Agago notably.  Engaging in cattle raids served important social, political, and economic functions within the pastoral system, including specific functions for young men which the Government declined and projected measures to change the mindset of the rustlers , as explained by Hon Lagen David.

Young warriors were compelled to always  accumulate cows in order to gain status. Their respect depended on the number of successful raids. However, raiding by these Clusters had extremely negative impacts to our people in Agago and other neighboring districts.

Insecurity and instability resulting from raiding  led to the collapse of markets, the absence of economic investment, decades of underdevelopment, a breakdown in local governance, and limited access to social services, including health care and education, said Lagen.

Despite the initial increase in insecurity at the community level and the widespread allegations of            human rights abuses in my first year of Leadership, Agago county legislator says security has                  improved across the district by approximately 2023. These improvements were noted by officials,            development actors, and local communities alike.

Importantly, the improvement in security has had widespread positive impacts, including on inter-group relations, herd mobility, access to natural resources, private sector expansion, growth of markets, dynamic internal and external trade, and access by national and international development and investment stakeholders.

large-scale cattle raids are no more, though other, more localized forms of violence and insecurity is still emerging, including opportunistic theft committed by young men and linked to the loss of male livelihood options.

I am ready to end cattle raids perpetrated by cattle rustlers in collaboration with my colleague MP's of Agago, local government and stalk holders respectively. Lets revive Agago together

HON LAGEN DAVID ATUKA WISHES ACHOLI COMMUNITY AND UGANDA AT LARGE HAPPY LABOUR DAY

On this day as we celebrate Labour Day, , my spotlight is on Agago district progress and the challenges encountered on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hon Lagen David cited that he committed to SDGs in 2010 before attaining a political position, setting a roadmap for developing the district until 2040. The legislator tasked experts from within the district, local leaders and social development to weigh Agago's journey on lasting sustainable development. A number of reports highlights crucial components that empowered sustainable development and partnerships within the district.   My focus from a way back as been on improving livelihoods, progressing the Health system ,Education and most importantly Agricultural production. Our district is yet to achieve unlimited progress if we the leaders and the community collectively work together. Political fights and uncalled for hatred shall always decline on the rapid progress of Agago, he cited. LAWANG LUTEDERO. ...
